The Minister told the House that the memorial, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.30 crore, is ready for inauguration.

Similarly, work for a memorial for Dalit spiritual leader Swami Sahajananda built at a cost of about Rs 1.15 crore is also complete and ready for inauguration at Chidambaram in Cuddalore district, he said.

The construction work is in progress in respect of a memorial for Pattukkottai Alagirisamy, a Dravidian leader and a follower of reformist leader Thanthai Periyar.

Also, the construction of a memorial at a cost of Rs 2.80 crore for late top Tamil actor Sivaji Ganesan here is nearing completion, he added.

In 2013, late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had announced memorial for Swami Sahajananda who worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the downtrodden people and for Hyder Ali and Tippur Sultan who fought against the British.
