Amdavadis were elated when it started drizzling in many parts of the city on Wednesday morning. But much to the disappointment of citizens, as the day progressed the sun started playing hide and seek and their hopes of getting drenched were dashed. However, the meteorological department in Ahmedabad has forecast few spells of rain or thundershowers for Thursday. The maximum temperature on Wednesday was 38.6 degree Celsius, which was two degrees above the normal temperature registered in June. While Amdavadis’ wait for rain continues, some parts of south Gujarat received rainfall in. The weather mainly remained dry over north Gujarat region, Saurashtra and Kutch. Chief rainfall in the state registered at Madhuban- 5 cms, Silvassa- 3 cms, Bansda - 2 cms, Nani Palsan, Umargaon, Valsad, Vapi, Ahva, Dang - 1 cm each. The Met department has predicted that many places in all districts of Gujarat region, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli will receive moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers on Friday. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers will occur at isolated places in all districts of Saurashtra, Kutch and Diu. The department also predicted the possibility of increase in rainfall in the next two days.
