The Haryana Government will set up an art and culture university named after renowned Haryanvi poet Pandit Lakhmi Chand at village Aterna in district Sonepat.

For the purpose of setting up of this university, the village panchayat has offered 50 acres of land, state Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said at an event organised in the memory of the poet at village Jati in Sonepat district.

Sharma said that the state government had decided to to establish a university after Chand.

"This university will act as a symbol for future generations regarding Pt Lakhmi Chand's contribution to the society," he said.
