Actor Hrithik Roshan has come forward to help the family of the fireman who lost his life in the multi-storey commercial building that went up in flames in Mumbai on Friday.

Nitin Ivalekar, a fireman with the Borivali fire station lost his life while carrying out rescue operations at the Lotus Business Park in Andheri, where a major fire erupted on Friday. Ivalekar, who is survived by his wife Shubhangi and two daughters, had lost contact with his fellow firefighters and got trapped in the smoke.

Actor Hrithik Roshan, whose office was also present in the 22-story building, took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express his support for the victim's family saying, “respect for the brave firemen who risked their lives today to extinguish d flames. True courage.”

The actor further tweeted, “I support the fireman Ivaleker, wholeheartedly. Please do come forward with whatever you can contribute.Contact @iamsanjivsharma for the family.”

The money collected through contributions will be given in the name of Ivalekar daughters.

On the actor's appeal, hundreds of people, included prominent personalities have come forward to help. Sanjeev Sharma, the person referenced in the actor's tweet said, “God bless all you 82 wonderful caring souls who have committed to contributing for the family of #FiremanIvalekar.”
