According to the TCS iElect app, the Twitter activity regarding the TMC saw a rise on Saturday, April 26 and continued to spike till Monday, April 28. This coincided with Modi's visit and speech in West Bengal's Sreerampore, where he accused Mamata Banerjee of colluding with Congress' P Chidambaram over the Saradha Chit fund scam. He had also alleged that one of Banerjee's paintings that was sold for a whopping Rs.1.80 crore was bought by Saradha scam mastermind Sudipta Sen.

Over 75% of the Twitter users talking about the TMC are from Mumbai, while only a dismal 3% are from Kolkata. New Delhi too beats Kolkata as 9.5% users from the capital have been tweeting about the party. The consequence of the little participation from Kolkata is evident as the party's Twitter handle is receiving mostly negative responses.
