Hot conditions prevailed in most parts of north India today with Churu in Rajasthan reeling at 41 degree Celsius.There was no relief for Delhiites too from the simmering heat as the temperature shot to 39 degrees, five notches above normal, while the low was registered at 22 C. The maximum and minimum recorded yesterday were 38 C and 23.1 C respectively.Churu remained the hottest place in Rajasthan, recording a maximum temperature of 41 C followed by Barmer at 40.2 C.Elsewhere in the state, Bikaner, Sirgangangar, Jaisalmer andJaipur recorded a high of 40, 39.9, 39.3 and 39.2 degreeCelsius respectively.Mercury settled several notches above normal in the states of Punjab and Haryana.

Hisar in Haryana was the hottest in the region at 40.8 C, seven degrees above normal. The high at Karnal settled at 37.4 C, up by four degrees, while Ambala recorded a high of 37.1 C.      Chandigarh also braved a hot day at 36 C, a rise of fourdegrees.In Punjab, Patiala recorded a maximum temperature of 38C, up by five degrees, while that in Ludhiana settled at 37.5deg C, four notches above normal.In Jammu and Kashmir, temperature continued to stay abovenormal despite the valley receiving overnight rains. Jammurecorded a maximum temperature of 36.4 C, over six degreesabove normal, while the high in Srinagar settled at 20 C,three notches above normal.The hilly state of Himachal Pradesh experienced a warmday with capital Shimla recording a maximum temperature of23.5 degree Celsius.

The night temperature in the 'Queen of the Hills' roseslightly to settle at 13 C, the Met office said. The maximumand minimum recorded for the previous day were 23.6 and 11.5degrees respectively.Elsewhere, Una and Sundernagar registered a maximum of 37C and 34.4 C respectively, followed by Bhuntar (30.8 C) andKalpa (15.5 C).
