SALEM: Stray dog menace has hit the city with the government-run Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical college hospital here receiving a record number of 212 dog bite cases in a day, hospital sources said on Wednesday.

Those administered anti-rabies vaccine on Tuesday include infants and aged persons, they said.

The hospital normally receives around 100 dog bite cases per day, but Tuesday's figure of 212 was an all-time high, the sources said.

Hospital officials were taking steps to stock enough quantity of anti-rabies vaccine.

Meanwhile, district administration officials said efforts were on to catch stray dogs.
