Himalaya's ecology in mind, avoid dynamite: Expert
During a meeting with Chief Minister BC Khanduri, Chandiprasad Bhatt said people's participation in conservation of forests must be ensured.
Noted environmentalist and Magsaysay award winner Chandiprasad Bhatt has appealed to the Uttarakhand government to keep in mind the sensitivity of the fragile Himalayan ecology before embarking on construction projects and avoid the use of dynamite in road constructions.During a meeting with Chief Minister BC Khanduri here last evening, Bhatt said people's participation in conservation of forests must be ensured.According to an official release, Bhatt appealed for ban on habitation near rivers and said dynamites should be avoided in road construction work.Khanduri apprised Bhatt of the steps taken by the government for conservation of forests in the state and dealing with natural disasters.
