Heavy snowfall has been recorded in several districts of Arunachal Pradesh during the past couple of days, throwing normal life out of gear.
According to official sources Tawang district bordering China has been experiencing heavy snowfall since December 23.
Sela Pass situated at an altitude of 14,000 feet on Bomdila-Tawang road has been covered by five feet snow since the last couple of days, official sources said today.
Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has stationed its men to clear blockades due to heavy snowfall which could disrupt road transport, sources said.
Several feet of snowfall was also recorded at Mechuka during the last couple of days.
Anini, the headquarters of Dibang Valley district experienced heavy snowfall on Friday.
Approximately one foot of snowfall has added beauty to Mayudia Point and its catchment areas in Lower Dibang Valley district, even as tourists have started thronging there to have a glance of nature's magnificence.
Mayudia, situated 2,500m above sea level, experiences heavy snowfall from December to February.
According to Nagamdra Kumar, officer-in-charge of 62 Road Construction Company (RCC) of BRO, the road is open and vehicular movement had not been disrupted by the snowfall.
The mercury level at Mayudia and its adjoining areas has dropped below zero degree Celsius and much snowfall is expected in the coming days, Kumar said.
