The farmers, who claimed right over the land allotted to Tata Motors for Nano project, have lost the battle in court. On Friday, a division bench of the Gujarat high court, headed by chief justice KS Radhakrishnan, dismissed a review petition in the preliminary hearing itself.

About two weeks ago, the high court had rejected a petition filed by the farmers of different villages of Sanand claiming their right over the land. On Friday, the farmers filed a review petition, seeking a re-look into their right over the land.

The farmers submitted that the then government had conducted land acquisition process without issuing notification under section 4 of the land acquisition act. However, the government replied that at that point of time the government had issued notification under section 6 of the act and also disbursed compensation according to the norms. After hearing both the sides, the high court bench dismissed the review petition.
