Patel wrote on Twitter: “I haven’t met Rahul Gandhi but when I do meet him, I will tell the entire country. I will meet him on his next trip to Gujarat. Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”

Earlier, the young leader was quoted as saying that he would back Congress to defeat the BJP.

However, it wasn't just a plain statement. At a rally north Gujarat's Mandal, Patel reportedly said that to defeat 'mahachor' BJP, he may have to support 'chor' Congress.

Though he admitted that he was at the same Ahmedabad hotel where Rahul Gandhi was staying, but he denied that he met the Congress vice president.

The 24-year-old who is still not eligible to contest elections is being seen as a popular young leader after his successful patidar stir.

The speculation about Hardik's secret meeting with Rahul started doing the rounds after the Patel community leader claimed that he would not be able to meet the Gandhi scion on Monday morning as he would be at a public function in Mandal town. He reportedly showed up at the hotel around 4 pm yesterday and later went to Mandal around 7.30 pm to address a meeting there.
