KARNAL (Haryana): A sleepy village in Haryana has woken up to the alleged high-handedness of Haryana police.

Traders and shopkeepers in the village have decided to boycott policemen altogether. They are not even willing to sell them a needle.

Businessmen in Bayana village of Haryana's Karnal district have decided that they have had enough of cane-wielding Haryana policemen having a free run in their shops by taking things at will and not paying for them.

"We have decided to boycott the policemen altogether. What to talk of giving them anything for free, we have decided not to even sell them anything," VP Goyal, vice president of the village traders association said.

Shopkeepers said that policemen are in the habit of taking things away and not paying.

On hearing about the decision, district police officials assured the businessmen that the matter would be investigated.
