Handler of busted ISIS terror module identified, may be Pakistani: NIA sources

The 10 alleged terrorists who were arrested in raids have told the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that they planned to spread an atmosphere of terror across India by leaving flags of terrorist outfit ISIS at the places where they were to carry out attacks. NIA sources also told Zee News that investigators have identified the handler for the arrested operatives, who could be Pakistani.
A senior NIA official has told Zee News that the handler has been identified as Abu Malik Peshwani. The agency says he could be a Pakistani. Investigations are also underway into how many other terror cells Peshwani may have set up. It is also trying to get a clear picture of how the accused had acquired the arms and explosives that were to be used in the planned attacks.
One of the other major areas of the probe is working on is to see if the the Pakistani terrorist-intelligence nexus is using the ISIS banner to carry out attacks in India.
The NIA has identified the social media accounts of the main accused, Suhail. He was active online as Mufti Suhail Abu Basir al-Khurasani.
The suspects revealed during questioning that they have carried out reconnaissance of the RSS’s Delhi office, the headquarters of Delhi Police and the offices of the NIA as targets of the attacks they were planning.
NIA sources also revealed part of the preparations for the raids, saying all personnel involved had been asked to fit themselves out with protective gear like bulletproof jackets and helmets so they could counter effectively if the terrorists attacked during the raids.
Raids are still be carried out at multiple places related to the activities of the outfit, which is calling itself Harkat ul Harb e Islam, which loosely translates to ‘war for the cause of Islam’. The 10 suspected terrorists were arrested after raids at 17 places in Delhi and Western Uttar Pradesh on December 26.
