Close on the heels of Maruti Suzuki’s search for land in Gujarat to set up a plant, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), which functions under the ministry of defence, is also learnt to be scouting for land in the state to come up with a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) project for helicopters.HAL, the public sector company which develops and manufactures advanced light helicopter (ALH) Dhruve for Indian defence forces, is interested in setting up a green field project for MRO of helicopters at an investment of Rs4,000 crore.The Bangalore-based company, requires around 600 acre land for the project. However, it is considering locations in other states also, said state government officials. A delegation from HAL visited the state on May 30 and 31 and held discussions with state govt.
