The Gulberg Society riot victims have filed an application in a special court here seeking direction for the Special investigation Team (SIT) to verify contents of the compact disc (CD) containing phone call records of police officers, political leaders and the accused.Special court judge BJ Dhandha has kept the hearing on the application on April 5.The application by advocate SM Vohra, representing the victims, details how under provisions of the Evidence Act it is critical that the integrity and authenticity of the CD placed on records by IPS officer Rahul Sharma is verified and call records ownership are authenticated and locational reach of mobile towers are proved.By deliberately being lax in tying up the evidence, an escape route could be provided to the accused, it said.Following the Godhra train burning incident, riots broke out in the city and in one such incident in Gulberg Society 69 people, including former Congress MP Ehsan Jaffery, were killed on February 28, 2002.Prime accused in the case include VHP leader Atul Vaidya, BJP leaders Pradeep Parmar, Chunilal Prajapati and Bipin Patel.
