Come October, and no Indian citizen will be able to escape the scrutiny of the immigration wing of the home department as it will be linked with a new software initiated by the bureau of immigration, Government of India.

Of the 47 total entry points in the country, seven are in Gujarat and all will be inter-linked with a central server to keep track of criminals and travellers.

The Gujarat home department is all set to connect the seven entry points on sea and land, which will be connected to the central server which will flash the Look-out notices on real time basis to all the 47 immigration centres of the country.

Software for this has been prepared by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and will be linked with the other 47 immigration centres of the country. Sources said that the NIC, on the guidelines reportedly provided by Bureau of Immigration, has prepared this software and will soon install them at all immigration centres.

“Currently the look-out notices take a few hours and some time even few days to be flashed at all the immigration centres,” a source in the home department said. The source said that the department has been working on the project for the last few months and police officials posted of the department will be trained to remain connected with the server.

Currently, an advisory with the passport number and photo is being issued to all the immigration centres of any criminal who attempts to flee the country after committing a crime.
However, once the immigration centres are inter-linked, the passport details of the accused will be flashed throughout the country on real time basis. The software will also keep a tab on people who come to city and never return.

“The officials at the immigration department will immediately know if the foreigners especially from Pakistan and Bangladesh, come to the city and don't return,” the source said.  Secretary, home department, TS Bisht, confirmed the development and said that the project should be implemented by October.
