BJP has decided to create awareness among youngsters about issues like corruption, terrorism and inflation.
Taking inspiration from social activist and Gandhian Anna Hazare’s fast, the Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to create awareness among youngsters about issues like corruption, terrorism and inflation. The party says these issues have dogged the country during the Congress-led UPA government.
The state BJP youth cell has launched Yuva Mitra programme and will train one million youth during two months beginning January 12, the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The day is also celebrated as National Youth Day.
The BJP youth cell workers will go door-to-door and contact youngsters who are willing to do something for country’s uplift. Apparently, the saffron party has planned out the youth programme in a bid to reach out to young voters keeping in mind the assembly polls next year.
“One can see that social activist Anna Hazare’s agitation over Lokpal issue has received stupendous support from country’s youth. It means youngsters want to do something for the country and therefore we are going to launch Yuva Mitra programme for two months from January,” said Pradipsinh Vaghela, president of the BJP youth cell.
The programme aims to train youngsters in tackling inflation, countering terrorism and corruption in the country. They will be contacted by the BJP youth cell workers and invited to attend leadership workshops to be organised across the state.
“We will organise 623 leadership workshops in all cities, districts, towns and villages to connect more and more youth to the party. We are targeting 10 lakh youths during our two-month programme,” Vaghela said.
The youth cell decided on the youth programme on Monday at the state executive meeting in Gandhinagar.
The meeting was held to plan various programmes to strengthen the party organisation for the next assembly polls. The BJP high command has alerted all its cells and morchas to increase public contact to turn public tide in party’s favour which can bring it another victory in the assembly polls.
