After the setback in rural local body polls, the Gujarat BJP unit is set for an overhaul as the party has initiated process to appoint new office-bearers at various levels including the state unit chief.

Gujarat BJP on Monday held a high-level meeting at the party headquarters at Koba in Gandhinagar to discuss strengthening of the party in the state, it said in a release.

State BJP chief R C Faldu presided over the meeting, attended by Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, state BJP in-charge Dinesh Sharma, national vice-president Pashottam Rupala, various MPs, MLAs and office-bearers.

The new office-bearers at ward and taluka levels will be appointed between January 7 to January 13. New district chiefs would be named between January 15 to 21, following which the new state chief would be appointed, the release said.

The party lost several district and tehsil (taluka) panchayats to Congress in the recently-held elections.
