The state Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) and city police today conducted a mock drill at the Sardar Patel stadium here to assess preparedness of various agencies during a terrorist attack situation, police said.
    
"A situation where a terrorists have made the Indian cricket team hostage was created today to assess the preparedness of the local police and other security agencies in such situations," joint commissioner of police Satish Sharma told media persons here.
    
"The city crime branch, ATS and the special operations group participated in the exercise," he said.
   
During the mock drill number of blank gun shots were fired as police officers took positions surrounding the stadium to overcome the dummy terrorists.

However, the drill panicked general public who mistook the drill as real terror attack leading the police control room to issue instruction that the incident at stadium was a mock drill and there was nothing to panic.
