Dhanani was yesterday suspended, for the remaining period of the ongoing budget session, from the House for showing disrespect towards the Speaker.

This is for the second time when Dhanani, who represents Amreli seat, has been suspended and subsequently given pardon in this ongoing Budget session.

During the fag end of today's proceedings in the House, Congress chief whip Balwantsinh Rajput urged the Speaker to revoke Dhanani's suspension.

On this, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel sought an apology from Dhanani to earn the pardon.

As the Congress MLA was barred from the House, senior MLA from the opposition party Shailesh Parmar tendered an apology on behalf of Dhanani, following which Vora revoked his suspension.

During the day, Dhanani sat on a dharna near the entry gate of Assembly complex to register his protest.

He alleged that the ruling BJP always indulged in "murdering democracy" by evicting Congress MLAs using majority.

On February 23, Dhanani and another Congress MLA Baldevji Thakor were suspended for the rest of the session for allegedly misbehaving and trying to attack some ministers and BJP MLAs. However, their suspension was revoked on March 9.
