RJD, JD (U), and Congress members of both houses of the legislature staged a dharna against the “unfulfilled promise of PM Narendra Modi to bring back black money and credit Rs 15 lakh in every account as well as the inconvenience caused to people due to demonetization.”
Amid reports of fissures in Bihar’s Mahagathbandhan government, the alliance partners tried to put up a united front at a joint ‘dharna’ on the last day of the winter session of the Bihar legislature on Friday.
RJD, JD (U), and Congress members of both houses of the legislature staged a dharna against the “unfulfilled promise of PM Narendra Modi to bring back black money and credit Rs 15 lakh in every account as well as the inconvenience caused to people due to demonetization.” Former CM and RJD leader Rabri Devi, who was spearheading the protests, said, “First Modi made his own arrangements and then he has fixed everyone.” She, along with others, demanded to know when the “promised Rs 15 lakh will be credited in the poor man’s account?”.
However, when reporters questioned the JD (U) legislators sitting along with their RJD and Congress colleagues, they were quick to clarify that their dharna was against the use of unconstitutional language by the BJP in the legislative council and were demanding an apology for the same.
“We are not against demonetization. The way indecent language was used in the council is a threat to democracy and we are protesting that,” JD (U) MLC and spokesperson Sanjay Singh told media.
