They also shouted slogans against PDS shop-owners and officers concerned.

The labourers who had earlier complained about price rise and blackmarketing of items supplied through the public distribution service ransacked the godown, looted foodgrains and destroyed the furniture.

They left behind some posters which said that they had failed to get their regular supplies from the PDS shops due to the corrupt system.

"All government policies favour the rich. The ration shops don't function properly and we don't get good quality foodgrains. Whatever we get is rotten and that too after repeated visits to the shops and to attract the attention of the government, we had to resort to this mode of agitation" the labourers said.

The police are investigating the case.
