The Modi government has included only one new bill -- The Indian Institute of Management Bill, 2016 -- in its priority list in parliament session starting from Monday perhaps knowing that it will have to indulge in a slugfest with the opposition parties on various contentious issues like imposition of President's rule in Uttarakhand, Pakistan JIT team's visit, drought situation and sagging economy.

Other than introducing the IIM bill, the Union government will try and get passed the GST, Anti-hijacking amendment and Constitution (Scheduled Castes) order (Amendment) Bill and some other pending bills and ordinances in the 18 days long session.

Besides two important ordinances – Uttarakhand Appropriation and Enemy Property -- up its sleeve, the government has 11 and 9 important bills pending in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha respectively.

However, given the hot political scenario, this parliament session may end up as grossly unproductive as Congress, JDU and the Left parties have already sounded alarm bells. TMC, AIADMK and DMK etc. are also expected to be tough on the government as West Bengal assembly elections are still underway and Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry are yet to go to the polls.
