Gaikwad, a follower of the conservative Hindu group `Sanatan Sanstha', also alleged that he was even offered Rs 25 lakh and told that he would be made an approver if he agreed. The incident took place on October 9, when he was being brought to the court, he said, adding that he couldn't see the man's face as he (Gaikwad) had a veil on his face at the time. The court asked the police to investigate Gaikwad's claim and file a report.

Pansare, a CPI leader and a noted rationalist, was shot dead near his house here by two unidentified men in February this year.
