The court issued NBWs against seven other accused who are on the run.
After 14-day judicial remand of ex-Principal of BRD Medical College Dr Rajiv Mishra and his wife Dr Purnima Shukla, a Gorakhpur court has issued Non-bailable Warrant (NBW) on Friday against seven other accused who are on the run.
Those who are still evading police arrest include Head Anaesthesia Dr Satih Kumar, Head AES Ward Dr Kafeel Ahmed Khan, Owner of Pushpa Sales Manish Bhandari. Chief Pharmacist Gajanand Jaiswal, Accounts department clerks Udai Pratap Singh, Sanjay Kumar and Sudhir Kumar. They are facing charges under Sections 120-B, 308 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 7/13 of Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 15 of Indian Medical Council Act.
On an application moved by the Gorakhpur Police, the Gorakhpur Court issued the NBW against the above seven accused who are absconding ever since FIRs were lodged against them on August 24. Dr Mishra and his wife Dr Purnima were arrested by the STF from Kanpur on Tuesday. They were produced in the court on Thursday which gave 14-day judicial remand.
About 31 children had died at the BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur, hometown of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath due to shortage of oxygen over unpaid bills. The Chief Minister had ordered a high-level probe by the Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar who had recommended action against these nine accused.
