Good news for train passengers! IRCTC introduces BIG changes for online ticket booking

There is good news for passengers who book train tickets online on the IRCTC website or the app.

There is good news for passengers travelling by trains. People who were booking train tickets online on the IRCTC website or the app and then cancelling it will not have to wait now for two to three days to get their refund.

IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) had launched its own payment gateway named IRCTC-iPay as a part of the central government's Digital India Campaign. This service is operational since 2019. According to a report by Hindi daily Livehindustan, passengers who book tickets through IRCTC's payment gateway IRCTC-iPay will get their refund immediately after they cancel it. The IRCTC has also upgraded its website in this regard.

Speaking to Livehindustan, an IRCTC spokesperson said the new arrangements will allow passengers to book tatkal and regular tickets easily apart from cancelling them. The official also added that keeping in view the increasing number of railway passengers, the IRCTC has upgraded its user interface along with the IRCTC-iPay feature because of which it is taking less time to book tickets. How to book train tickets through IRCTC-iPay:

1. For booking through iPay, first login to www.irctc.co.in.

2. Now fill the details related to the journey like place and date.

3. After this, select the train according to your route.

4. While booking the ticket, you will get the first option 'IRCTC iPay' in the payment method.

5. Select this option and click on 'Pay and Book'.

6. Now fill the credit card, debit card or UPI details for payment.

7. After payment, the ticket will be immediately booked and a confirmation will be sent through SMS/email.

IRCTC iPay payment options-

iPay has options of credit card, debit card, international card and UPI (Unified Payment Interface) to make payments. Other payment options such as IRCTC prepaid card-cum-wallet and auto-debit are expected to be added to the payment gateway soon.
