The Supreme Court today refused to interfere with a Bombay High Court order which had cancelled the anticipatory bail granted to Goa politician John Fernandes accused of raping a Russian girl.    A Bench of Justices Dalveer Bhandari and AK Patnaik said the twelve-thirteen injuries on the victim was sufficient to infer that there was an attempt to rape her.    The apex court also took the view that the Russian girl had no axe to grind against the accused by implicating him in a false case.    Sensing the mood of the apex court, senior counsel UU Lalit sought permission to withdraw the petition.    A sessions court had earlier granted anticipatory bail to Fernandes but the High Court on an appeal from the Goa Government cancelled the same following which he appealed in the apex court.    Fernandes is accused of raping the Russian girl on December 1, 2009.
