Goa will be the first state to allow electronic transmission of postal ballot, Chief Election Commissioner​ Naseem Zaidi announced on Sunday during a press conference in Panjim.

This mode of postal ballot is assigned to 822 personnel from defence and paramilitary forces and officials on diplomatic missions.

Regarding the ballot process for disabled voters, Zaidi said that the EC has mapped them with respect to their polling stations. There are 2757 disabled voters. The EC will provide all facilities to ensure they can exercise their right, he said. 

Zaidi added that one polling station will be operated by disabled officials of EC.  

A total 250 candidates are in fray for the upcoming Goa Assembly elections, following the scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations.

Of the 250 candidates to contest the February 4 polls for the state's 40 constituencies, 131 are from South Goa and 119 from North Goa, as per the data available with Chief Electoral Officer.
