BJP leader Giriraj Singh, contesting from Nawada, created much controversy for himself and the party after he addressed to those opposed to Modi as pro-Pakistan.

At a poll meeting on Saturday, Singh had said people opposing Modi, have a political Mecca Medina in Pakistan and do not want India to stand united. He was not only pulled up by his party leadership, but an FIR has also been filed against the leader in Deoghar district in Jharkhand for the remarks he made.

HIs comments have received strong reactions from the Online community, and hastags such as #ModiSendMeToPak have been trending on Twitter:

Angst-filled tweets or tweets mocking Giriraj Singh have been trending since Saturday. Comments made by party leaders not just deteriorate their image but also create trouble for the entire party. Tweets accusing Modi and BJP have also been doing the rounds.

BJP has distanced it self from Giriraj Singh's remark and defending his party, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, on Sunday tweeted,
