Azad said, "Arundhati Roy has called Gandhiji a casteist. It should not be tolerated and action should be taken against that individual. No matter how big she or he may be. India is proud of Gandhiji as our leader. He is the Father of Nation and one person who is being respected across the political lines, religion, and globe; not only in India. If somebody passes any remark against Gandhiji I think government must take some action against it." Adding more to the controversies, Roy has reportedly demanded to rename the institutions named after the Father of the Nation.
