Ghaziabad: Hospital staff attempts rape on medical student on night duty
An employee of a private hospital in Ghaziabad allegedly attempted rape on a medical student who was on night shift, police said on Monday. The incident took late last night when the student, who is pursuing MD, was sleeping in the rest room of the hospital under Siani Gate police station. A sanitation employee, identified as Ravi, stealthily entered into the room from an open window and attempted to rape her, Police Inspector Ashok Shishodia said.

As the student screamed for help, other staff members rushed to the retiring room. The assailant, however, jumped off the room and fled. The woman, along with medical superintendent of the hospital BR Sharma, filed a complaint at the police station against Ravi, a resident of Seva Nagar. An FIR has been registered under section 376, read with 511 IPC (for attempted rape), Shishodia said, adding the accused has been arrested and sent to jail.
