German Chancellor Angela Merkel called Malala Yousafzai, Nobel Peace Prize winner and education activist, "the identity of Pakistan".

According to Dawn, Merkel said that "courageous girl" like Malala was the "identity of Pakistan". The Chancellor made the comment during a press conference with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is on a visit to Germany.

The Prime Minister avoided the perception when asked about the negative view of Malala in Pakistan.Sharif said that the country was extremely proud when she received the award and he believes that she has done a great service for Pakistan.
