Geetika case: Women's panel chief holds 'uneducated' politicians responsible
Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh said that some politicians were not educated and not from a good family, so it was time to change the political system.
Expressing profound grief to hear of the suicide of former airhostess Geetika Sharma's mother, Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh on Friday said she felt that the political system is responsible for it.
"Actually, this is very unfortunate and we are really very sad to know about her. This is why we to change the political system because some politicians are not educated, not from a good family. So, somehow as I think the political system is responsible for it," she said.
Anuradha Sharma, 62, committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her flat in Ashok Vihar on Friday evening.
The cops have recovered a suicide note from the spot and are investigating the matter.
Twenty-three-year-old Geetika, an air hostess with MDLR Airlines, was found dead on August 5 last year at her Ashok Vihar residence. In one of her suicide notes, she had accused former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda and his colleague and co-accused in the case, Aruna Chaddha, of harassing her.
Geetika's family had earlier alleged harassment by Gopal Kanda.
