Gas leak after LPG tankers collide in Kerala

An LPG tanker collided with another one at the national highway at Mylatti near Kasaragod in Kerala, resulting in leakage of gas, police said.

Fire and rescue units and police are camping at the spot, and all efforts are being taken to plug the leak and prevent spread of the gas, they said.

Experts from Mangalore are also on their way to Mylatti to set right the gas leak, they said, adding that families residing close to the accident spot have been moved to a safer place.

Vehicular traffic on the national highway was affected due to the accident.

The tanker was coming from Mangalore to Kochi, while the second one was proceeding from Kanjankad to Kasargod when the mishap occured, they said.

Last week an LPG tanker going to Kochi had turned turtle at Vattappara near Kottackal in Malappuram district,disrupting traffic on the national highway for over 30 hours.
