The rogue cop was member of a gang comprising two women that trapped senior citizens and later threatened to file false case against them for being involved with prostitutes. The police arrested one Bhupendra Soni some days ago and he later spilled the beans about the gang and their victims.

A victim of the gang and a resident of Naroda then came forward to register a fresh complaint.

The victim was stopped by a lady named Sonu, who took him to a flat in Vejalpur. Soon other gang members along with the police constable Girish Sharma reached the flat and told him to pay Rs2 lakh or face a police case.

The victim then told the gang that he had no money and then was taken to his house by Sharma from where the latter took some jewellery and sold it to a shop in Manekchowk. The victim fearing disgrace did not file a complaint until during the course of investigation, police also found out about the involvement of Sharma, a serving police constable of Sola Police station. The police are searching for the constable and his subordinate, Sonu.

"Another women member Anita Chudasma was nabbed by the police when she along with other members was about to take the money from one of her victims near Victoria Garden," assistant commissioner of police, Detection of Crime Branch, Mayur Chavda told DNA.

Apart from Soni and Anita, the police have arrested Pravin Chudasma and Mahendra Rajput.
