The members of Ahmedabad chapter of the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) will march from Gandhi Ashram to Sabarmati Central Jail on October 2 and gift books, toys and clothes to prisoners’ children living on the jail premises. The lady members will also meet prisoners and give them books.

Pooja Agarwal, chairperson of FLO, Ahmedabad said that around 150 members of the organisation will gather at Gandhi Ashram in Vadaj at 9:00am on October 2, the 143rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. “From there, we will march to Sabarmati jail to meet children living on the prison premises and gift them books, clothes and toys.” The event will be organised as a part of the body’s Joy of Giving Week celebrations. The week is to be celebrated from October 2 to 8.

“Children living on jail premises are deprived of  normal environment. They need goodwill gestures. We are making one such gesture by our programme on Sunday,” Agarwal further said.Additional director general of police (ADGP), prisons, PC Thakur confirmed the visit of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry) FLP to Sabarmati jail, the biggest prison in the state. Presently, around 14 children of prisoners are living in Sabarmati jail.
