Acting on a tip-off, a police team under additional commissioner of police (ACP), JN Parmar, Amraiwadi police inspector (PI) MH Sindha and Rakhial PI Saiyed, swooped down on the gambling den in Amraiwadi at 11 am and arrested 33 people, including Raju Vashram Bhadoria, the administrator of the den.

Police also seized booty of collective worth Rs3.84 lakh comprising Rs2.86 lakh in cash, besides an LCD TV, tables and chairs, plastic coins and playing cards.

However, Raghu Sava, who is also wanted in the case of assaulting people in LG Hospital on Saturday night, managed to escape the team, the ACP said.

Despite several raids, illegal activities go on uninterrupted in the den thanks to Sava's shrewdness and corrupt cops. Sources say, the gambler, who has also been a bootlegger at times, surrenders before police after such raids but gets away with his crime by bribing police.

Sava, has been running his 'business' for the past 15 years. His two sons, Rahul and Himanshu, are also involved in the same activity, the sources added.
