Coming out in defence of her son Varun, BJP leader Maneka Gandhi on Sunday said forensic reports, suggesting that the tapes containing his alleged hate speeches were not doctored, were "one-sided". "The report is one-sided. We will answer and prove in the court that the tapes are doctored," Maneka told reporters on the sidelines of BJP's National Executive meet here.

Supporting Maneka's stand, party general secretary Vinay Katiyar said if the police have original tapes, it should produce them. In a setback to Varun, forensic experts have said the hate speech CDs of the BJP MP from Pilibhit were not doctored.

A police officer in Lucknow said the Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad has submitted its report on Saturday. The tapes contain the hate speeches that Varun delivered in Barekhera and Lalauribagh on March 7 and Deshnagar on March 8. Varun had vehemently denied making the speech saying it was a political conspiracy. The young MP, who is currently out on bail, has six FIRs against him.
