From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Coimbatore bikers to ride for water conservation
The members of the Coimbatore Bikers club will cover 10,000 kms and spread awareness about water conservsation to as many people possible.
Four Coimbatore-based bikers on Tuesday began their 45-day motorcycle ride from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, to create awareness on water conservation.
The members of the Coimbatore Bikers Club will cover nearly 10,000 kms and meet as many people from all walks of life and educate them on water conservation at home, office, schools, business place, and forest, Karthik, who leads the team, told reporters in Coimbatore. Riding Royal Enfield bikes during the long journey, the members wanted sustainable policies for worldwide water management, so as to create awareness of water-related problems, motivate commitment at the highest level for their solution, Karthik said.
The actual journey will begin from Kanyakumari, which will cover every rural panchayat village, schools, educational institutions, primary health centres, highways and important public gathering places, he said. The team will distribute pamphlets, display banners on water awareness themes like water recycle process, recharging system of ground water level, cleaning ponds and water tanks and rain water harvesting ideas, he said. Sandeep Rajan, Kaisan and Stephen Ajay will be accompanying Karthik in the K2K trip.
