Noted freedom fighter Bharat Nadan Pande died in Ramnagar town in the district on Wednesday after a prolonged illness.

His mortal remains were consigned to flames today with full state honours in Ramnagar.

He was 91, family sources said.

The nonagenarian, who led a reclusive life in Ramnagar, is survived by three sons and two daughters, they said.

Born in 1922, Pande went to jail many times during the country's freedom struggle.
