At least four people, including three women, were killed when suspected Karbi Peoples' Liberation Tigers (KPLT) militants fired indiscriminately at a village in Assam's Karbi Anglong district early Friday, police said.

Confirming the incident, a senior police official in district headquarter Diphu said that he is waiting for a detailed report.

According to locals, a group of suspected KPLT militants attacked Khoaani village under Bokajan subdivision in the district at dawn and set some houses on fire. The militants then started indiscriminate firing, killing four people instantly.

Mainly inhabited by the Rangma Naga community, the village is located over 200 km from the district headquarters.
