Four persons were today arrested here while allegedly trying to exchange the withdrawn Turkish Lira by presenting it as valid currency.

The face-value of the 100 bank notes which were seized was five crore in Turkish currency and 90 crore in the Indian rupee, said the police.

B Chandrapaul and others were trying to exchange 100 demonetised Lira notes at a discounted rate in Vikrampuri area, said inspector M Ravi of Kharkhana police station.

The accused told gullible customers that the currency was still valid in Turkey, he said.

Another two accused were absconding and further probe is on, he said.
