JALANDHAR: The district police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a former policeman under NDPS Act with the recovery of four kilogram of opium from his possession.
  
The accused identified as Palwinder Singh, a former head constable and a resident of village Porsi Brahmana of district Amritsar was caught by police while carrying the contraband in a plastic box, police sources said.
  
The accused was on the way to village Amanatpur from Suransssi on his motorbike when stopped by police for checking,  sources said adding that he was dismissed from the police in 2005 and had already number of cases registered against him for carrying ammunition and for robbery in different police stations of the city.
  
The police, against the accused, have booked a case under different sections of NDPS act. PTI RB
