RAIPUR: The dead body of a foreigner was recovered from the coal depot of a private company at Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh, a top police officer said on Sunday.

Police was trying to contact Interpol to establish the identity of the dead person, the official said.

On a tip-off the police seized the foreigner's body from the coal depot premises, about 250 km from the state capital, Raigarh Superintendent of Police Dipanshu Kabra informed.

The body was found on Saturday and primary investigation has revealed that the company had imported coal from China via Paradeep Port of Orissa and the body might have come with the consignment, the SP said.

The foreigner appeared to be of Chinese origin, and since the coal was also imported from China, it could be possible that the body might have come from the neighbouring nation via ship, he said.

A post mortem report revealed that the foreigner did not have any external injury and other things were examined to confirm his death, Kabra said.

Police had sought details of documents from the private group to ascertain from where the coal was imported.
