The Special Judge CBI was quoted in media reports that Jalaun DM Mannan Akhtar had called him on the December 23 2017 and tried to influence him in the fodder scam verdict against accused Lalu Prasad Yadav.

After media reports, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the Commissioner Jhansi Amit Gupta to probe CBI Judge's allegations and submit the report at the earliest. The Centre has also sought a detailed report from the UP Chief Secretary Rajive Kumar in this regard.

The CBI Special Judge Shivpal Singh belonged to Shekhpur Khurd village of Jalaun district in Uttar Pradesh. A case of land dispute was going on his ancestral property in the village.

The Special CBI judge has alleged that he was fighting the case for the past 11 years with no help from district officials despite several complaints and personal meetings with then DM and SP. He had sought an impartial probe from officials into his land dispute case.

"I had met DM Mannan Akhtar on October 12 2017 in connection with the ongoing land dispute but when I gave him my reference he advised me to study law before speaking to him", the judge alleged in media reports.

"How can he (Judge) level such a grave charge without evidence. I belong to Assam and have no connection whatsoever with Laluji. Why will I call him for favour to a person not known to me?," he told media.

The Jalaun DM claimed that he has already made his stand clear to his higher ups that he had never called the Judge. "He (Judge) should issue a statement in this regard. I was on leave to my hometown in Assam on the date mentioned by media of me calling him (CBI Judge)," he further said.

The SDM Jalauan Bhairpal Singh has also denied the allegation. "There is not an iota of truth on his allegation. I never called the Judge to influence him. I don't what led him to make such allegations," said the SDM Jalaun.

The Commissioner Jhansi Amit Gupta has already started inquiry into the judge's allegations. He has sought statements from both the DM and SDM and directed the SSP to procure their call details from the telecom companies to ascertain whether or not they had called the Special CBI Judge as alleged by him.
