In a crackdown on "spurious" mineral water manufacturers, public health department officials have sealed five units allegedly functioning without proper permission or using fake licence in and around the city.    The action was taken in the last three days on a directive from Public Health Director for a state-wide raid against spurious water units, officials said today, adding the raids were still continuing.A team of officials led by Deputy Director (Health) Palanichamy, technical expert Machakalai and Food control officials inspected the mineral water units which were supplying the precious commodity under the "brand names of various companies with ISI mark".They found the water supplied by the unit was not of ISI quality and was spurious.   Palanichamy today said the units sealed had not obtained permission from the local bodies, Food Adulteration and Prevention department and Bureau of Indian Standards and lacked quality water testing facility, quality water treatment plants and facilities for screening for bacteria.
