Fire breaks out at Statesman House in Kolkata
Fire tenders and hydraulic ladders have been pressed into service.
A massive fire broke out at Statesman House situated at Esplanade in Kolkata on Saturday late evening. The fire broke out around 9.30 pm on the fourth floor of the building.
As many as six tenders were rushed to the spot and several are feared to be trapped inside the building, according to police sources.
Several more fire tenders and hydraulic ladders have been pressed into service. Senior police officials have also rushed to the spot.
This building on Esplanade was recognised as a heritage building by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
