At least six people are believed to be dead after a fire broke out at ESIC Hospital in Andheri East. Many are believed to be trapped in government run hospital in Andheri East where a level 4 was reported on Monday afternoon. The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) has already rescued around 46 people mostly patients till 6 pm. The fire erupted around 4.20pm.

Many are believed to be trapped in government run hospital in Andheri East where a level 4 was reported on Monday afternoon. The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) has already rescued around 46 people mostly patients till 6 pm. The fire erupted around 4.20pm.
According to MFB official, there was fire and smoke on the first floor which gradually spread to other upper floors of the hospital located in Marol in Andheri East.
Initially, the level of fire was three which later became four due to high intensity. The fire was reported around 4.20pm which was declared level four at 4:54pm.

Prashant Sapkale, assistant commissioner of K East said that there are smoke and there is possibility that more people will be trapped.
Maharashtra Minister Vinod Tawde tweeted: “Rescue operation underway to safeguard the individuals trapped in the fire that broke out at ESIC Kamgaar Hospital, Andheri. Instructed police officials, fire marshals and concerned officers to prioritise the well-being of the all patients involved on site.”
Meanwhile, people were advised to avoid taking the MIDC-SEEPZ route to make way for emergency vehicles.
