A fire broke out in the Terminal 1 – B of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at around 2:50 pm on Tuesday. The blaze was confined to the electrical wiring of the Informationa Technology (IT) store room of the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) office and was doused by 3.30 pm.

Flight operations remained unaffected even as four fire engines and an equal number of water tankers were rushed to the spot immediately. As soon as the smoke was detected in the building, the staff was evacuated from the IT storeroom and the fire brigade was alerted, said Chief Fire Officer of BMC, P S Rahangdale.
