FIR against Sadhvi Prachi 'for inciting communal passions'
Sadhvi Prachi recently had pitched for a 'Muslim free country' while addressing a crowd in Uttarakhand's Roorkee.
An FIR has been registered against controversial VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi for inciting communal passions, police said on Tuesday.
The FIR was registered against Prachi based on a complaint lodged by Sandeep Kumar of Bahujan Mukti Morcha who alleged that her statement in which she had pitched for a "Muslim free country" in Uttrakhand recently, hurt communal feelings, they said.
The FIR has been registered under IPC 153 A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion), IPC 153 B (Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national-integration), SHO, Unnao, Sanjay Pandey said.
Known for courting controversies, the Sadhvi had claimed the mission of a Congress-free country has already been "accomplished" and it is now time to make India free of Muslims.
"Now that we have achieved the mission of making a Congress-free India, it is time to make India Muslim-free. We are working on that," she said in Roorkee, where at least 32 people were injured in a clash between two communities over forcible evacuation of a scrap dealers shop, on June 7.
